NC Songwriter's Co-op Board Meeting

On Sunday, we made the drive up to Carrboro to attend the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op Board Meeting. The board meets once a month (usually the first Sunday of the month from 3:00-5:00pm) to discuss new and old business and to plan events for our group. The Co-op is managed by a group of volunteer board members who are responsible for planning events, overseeing fundraising, budget and expenses, and the membership list. There is an open invitation for any of the members of the Co-op to attend any of the meetings that they can. This was our first time visiting the board meeting, and we really enjoyed it. We got to see how the board meeting works, and how hard all of these volunteers work to make opportunities for NC songwriters. 

Now, for a little about the Co-op. The North Carolina Songwriters Co-op (NCSC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the support and promotion of songwriters in the state of North Carolina. The NCSC assists both new and established songwriters by providing a supportive environment, including resources for marketing and promotion, the opportunity to network with other songwriters, the chance to assist with and participate in the annual NC song contest, and to attend seminars and workshops designed to enhance songwriting and performing skills. Membership is $25.00 for the first year, and $10.00 per year after the first year. We feel that this is such a small amount to pay for such a great opportunity. We have been members for 1 year now, and are glad to be a part of an organization that supports artists all around our state. If you aren't familiar with the Co-op, then check them out. It's a great resource for performing songwriters. We will definitely go back to the board meeting again sometime soon.
